OUR STORY

Our passion is to help people discover the unique flavours of the Australian Rainforest.

Are you looking for new and exciting flavours?

Rainforest Fruits Australia provides stunning Australian native riberries (or Lilly Pilly as it is more commonly known) sourced from sustainably grown orchards in the idyllic and unspoilt hinterland of Australias East Coast.

Our signature product is the delicious Dark Chocolate Coated Riberry.

Riberries have been enjoyed for thousands of years by Australias first people and it formed a nutritious and delicious part of their diet. More recently the CSIRO and RIRDC have discovered that riberries contain high levels of antioxidants.

We think you will agree that it is a marriage made in flavour heaven.

The Australian Baking Team utilised our riberries as a unique ingredient in their quest to win the Coupe Louis Le Saffre in Jakarta in 2016.

They were awarded the William Wongso Medal for Food Innovation and went on to compete in the world finals in Paris.

Australian Rainforest Fruits was founded by Anne Marie who has worked in the food industry for many years creating gourmet Christmas Puddings and Fruit cakes.  Crossing paths with many people who were passionate about the use of newly rediscovered Australian native fruits in particular the riberry, which is easily cultivated in commercial quantities and has a myriad of uses for its attractive and delicious fruit.

“It seemed that here is this stunning fruit that the average Australian has no knowledge of” and so we set about experimenting to create a natural process by which the natural colours and flavours could be retained whilst also increasing the shelf life. With the assistance of a dedicated team of food scientists the glace riberry was created. This  gorgeous product will be available later in the year.

Food Innovation Australia Ltd were also pivotal in the project as well as support from the growers and ANFAB (the peak representative body of the Australian native foods industry).

Further expertise was sought from other specialists in the natural food preservation area and the Dark Chocolate Coated Riberries were the result of this collaboration.
